Terms of Service

Dyad is small, new, and run by one person. These terms are the real, legally binding agreement between you and Dyad, written as plainly as a document like this can be.

1. Agreement & who we are

“Dyad,” “we,” or “us” refers to the Dyad service, currently operated by a single individual doing business as Dyad, based in Washington State, ahead of any formal incorporation. You can reach us any time at jsavett@gmail.com. A person reads it.

By creating an account or otherwise using Dyad, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these terms by reference. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.

2. Dyad is not therapy

Dyad is a structured reflection and communication practice. It is an AI coach, not therapy, not medical or mental-health care, and not a substitute for a licensed clinician. The AI personas you talk to are not licensed therapists, counselors, or any kind of licensed professional. Nothing about using Dyad creates a provider-patient or therapist-client relationship, and nothing you say here is protected by legal privilege the way it might be with a licensed provider. Because of that, conversations are not shielded from legal process: in a dispute such as a divorce proceeding, records could in principle be sought through subpoena or discovery like any other communication.

AI output can be incomplete, biased, or simply wrong. Nothing Dyad says is medical, legal, or financial advice, and you shouldn’t treat it as such. Many people use Dyad alongside a licensed clinician. Dyad is not a replacement for one. The decisions you make in your relationship, including what you choose to share with your partner, are yours; Dyad surfaces choices but does not make them for you.

If you or anyone else is in danger or in crisis, call 911, or call or text 988 (the US Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). Dyad is not an emergency service, is not staffed for crises, and does not monitor sessions for signs of emergency.

3. Eligibility

  • You must be 18 or older to use Dyad.
  • Dyad is currently a US-only private alpha, open by invitation only.
  • One account per person. Invite codes and pairings are meant for the couple they were issued to.
  • You’re responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account.

4. Private alpha status

Dyad is experimental software, actively being built. Features may change or disappear without notice, things may break, and (despite our best efforts) data could be lost. We may suspend or end the alpha entirely, for you or for everyone, at any time. We’ll try to give notice when we reasonably can, but we can’t promise it.

5. Your content & sharing between partners

You own what you say and write in Dyad. To operate the service, you grant us a limited license to host, store, and process your content solely for the purpose of running Dyad for you, including sending relevant content to the third-party AI providers described in our Privacy Policy so they can generate a response.

The sharing model is the core of how Dyad works: your sessions are yours alone, your partner’s are theirs alone, and only what you explicitly choose to share crosses into the shared space, exactly as you approved it. Withdrawing a shared item removes it from the shared space and stops it from being fed to your partner’s AI going forward, but withdrawal can’t erase what your partner has already read, remembered, or exported before you withdrew it. A mutual ledger records shares, withdrawals, and views so both of you can see what crossed and when.

Please respect your partner: don’t share their private information outside the app without their consent, even information they shared with you inside Dyad.

6. Acceptable use

You agree to use Dyad lawfully, and not to:

  • Harass, stalk, monitor, or coerce a partner or any other person through the service.
  • Attempt to break, bypass, or probe Dyad’s security, or access another person’s account or private pool without authorization.
  • Scrape, reverse-engineer, or extract the service or its underlying models beyond normal use.
  • Use Dyad in any way that involves or endangers minors.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe endanger others or violate this section.

7. Fees

Dyad is free during the private alpha. No card is collected today. Our planned pricing at general launch is $24 per person per month. Alpha members keep alpha pricing for a year after launch. We’ll give you notice before we ever charge anything, and you’ll have the chance to accept or decline before a charge occurs.

8. Termination

You can delete your account at any time; see our Privacy Policy for what happens to your data when you do. Unpairing closes the shared space for both of you: each of you keeps your own private vault, and shared material is deleted rather than divided between you. We may suspend or terminate your access for violating these terms, with notice where practicable.

9. Disclaimers

Dyad is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don’t warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dyad will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to Dyad is capped at the greater of $50 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions don’t allow these kinds of limits, so they apply to the fullest extent the law permits.

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold Dyad harmless from claims arising out of your violation of these terms or your misuse of the service.

12. Governing law & disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, and any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts of King County, Washington. Before filing anything, please try to resolve the issue informally first: email us at jsavett@gmail.com and give us 30 days to work it out with you.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Dyad evolves. If a change is material, we’ll notify you by email or in-app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Dyad after a change means you accept the updated terms.

14. Miscellaneous

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Dyad. You may not assign your rights under these terms; our failure to enforce a provision isn’t a waiver of it.
